Abstract

|
The exact nature of carcinogenesis is still debatable, however the discovery of
oncogenes and suppressor genes encouraged the frontiers to explain the pathogenesis of
malignant change.
In general, the oncogenes and suppressor genes are believed to involve in cellular transformation but now it is also believed that these genes also have the role of normal cell
proliferation and differentiation.
So the author performed this experimental study to find out the presence of c-myc, c-H-ras and EGF protein in the liver, stomach and kidney of fetuses of variable gestational age, new born infants and adults.
@ES The results are as follows:
1. c-myc antisera revealed highest positive ratio in the liver of fetuses and newborn infant.
2. c-H-ras antisera revealed highest positive ratio in the stomach of fetuses and new born infant.
3. EGF antisera revealed positive ratio in the liver and stomach in 9 and 5 cases.
